PFATS Foundation strives to advance the Athletic Training profession and develop athletic trainers by providing educational opportunities and cutting-edge research. The Foundation utilizes three avenues consisting of internal education, external education, and a research committee to enhance the development of athletic trainers. In addition, PFATS partners with the NFL Foundation to offer the PFATS and NFL Foundation Ethnic Minority and Female Athletic Training Student Scholarship Program.
PFATS / NATA Scholarship Series
All collegiate student athletic trainers who are in their junior year or higher with a grade-point average of at least 3.2/4.0 and who plan on pursuing a career as a certified athletic trainer are eligible to apply for one of the $2,000 scholarships. Application forms may be found at www.nata.org and are due by December 1 of each year.
PFATS / NFL Foundation Scholarship Program
Since 1993, PFATS and the NFL Foundation have worked together to sponsor annual scholarships for ethnic minority students. This program awarded 32 scholarships at $2,000 per award - totaling $64,000. In 2024 ethnic minority students must be in a masters or doctoral program in Athletic Training or have just graduated from said program to be eligible. You must obtain an internship with a team before you will be eligible for the scholarship. In addition to receiving a financial grant, each student selected will have the opportunity to work at an NFL summer training camp.
